The reason why aluminum foil gasket produces odor when sealing?

Many users in the use of aluminum foil gasket (aluminum foil sealing gasket) sealing, often find that at the moment of sealing, the bottle will produce a burst of white smoke, open the sealing aluminum film, which will emit a stimulating smell. For products that have their own aroma, such as coffee, chocolate, dairy products, spices or high-end cosmetics, this pungent smell is a damaging factor in product quality.

Why is this smell produced when the aluminum foil gasket is sealed? There are two reasons for this:

  1. The hot sealing temperature of the sealing layer of the aluminum foil gasket is high, and the hot sealing layer is easy to carbonize at high temperature; Or the heat sealing layer of low temperature (such as: some brands of sealing layer of hot melt adhesive). When the temperature of the sealing moment exceeds the temperature resistance, the sealing layer will carbonize or qualitative change, and white smoke and odor will be produced.

 

  1. The heat generated on the aluminum foil gasket during electromagnetic induction sealing will not increase linearly, but will suddenly change, resulting in uneven heating on the aluminum foil gasket. When the entire aluminum foil sealing is completed, the local temperature of the aluminum foil surface may be too high and exceed the carbonization temperature of the sealing layer, causing the sealing layer to carbonize and produce odor.

 

To eliminate the odor caused by the sealing of aluminum foil gaskets, you can start from two aspects: 1. Use high-quality sealing layer materials, such as: sealing film with low sealing temperature and high carbonization temperature; 2. If the production volume is large enough, try to use automatic (that is, assembly-type) aluminum foil sealing machine, because the assembly-type aluminum foil sealing machine has multiple induction sealing mouths, and the induction magnetic field generated by the sealing aluminum foil acts on the aluminum foil and generates more uniform heat. Moreover, the sealing time and the heat generated by the sealing can be adjusted by adjusting the speed of the conveyor belt, the power of the sealing machine and the height of the induction head, so as to set a good fixed sealing operating parameter to ensure the quality of the sealing.
